Seems like I have been making Dollfie Dream related posts a lot recently, so let’s break it up with something else~ What we have here is the 1/4 Fate T. Harlaown Swimsuit version that just arrived at the door today, I have been longing for this figure to pair her up with the previously released 1/4 Nanoha.  I wasted little time to take her out of the box and set her up for a photo shoot.

From the story stand point I personally prefer Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha A’s but I have to say I am more attracted to the mature Fate in the StrikerS series~ It’s ok to say that right? Haha

It’s been rather busy for the past couple of days, Fate and Nanoha arrived just a tad sooner than I expected or was it just poor planning on my part since I knew Fate was going to arrive in July; as a result, I only managed to prepare a room for them but it didn’t have lights in it before they moved in.  The reason was rather simple, I didn’t have time to go to Ikea to pick up another Dioder set before they arrived!  I really couldn’t call it a room without electricity running through, so I decided to go to the local Ikea after work so I can get a pack of Dioder.  It was rather late when I arrived, by the time I get to the lighting section, I noticed all the Dioders were gone from the display rack, I was like, no way, how could it be?!!  Then I realized this store is following the same footsteps as the other Ikea stores and keep the Dioder at the furniture pickup instead of keeping them in the display rack, I have no idea why they had to do that, it was so much easier before and now I have to line up to pick up a single pack of Dioder >.>;  Luckily, this is one of those rare Ikea store that doesn’t have much of a line even on weekend, so I picked up the package within minutes and proceed to drive home.

After dinner,  I immediately get to work and I made Fate and Nanoha wait outside of their room so I can install the lighting fixture.

Fate and Nanoha holding hands while waiting for me to finish working on their room, how cute!

Na Na Na Nanoha!

And while we are in the Decade mood, let’s take a look at what would happen if Decade was to travel to the Nanoha world… I honestly cannot stop laughing on this one.

And it appears that Tetsuo Kurata will be coming back to reprise his role as Minami Kotaro in the upcoming Decade movie.

Thanks to Agito666 at Dannychoo.com for the link.

And while we are talking about Tetsuo Kurata, let me throw a couple of pictures I took yesterday on one of my oldest collector book.

The day I have been waiting for since the beginning of the month has come and gone, I have been checking my email at work every half an hour but the result didn’t come until I was back at home.

phpORz85h

I was so excited when I saw the email came through, but when I clicked on it… some of the items I put on the ticket were missing… namely the Rin Tohsaka DD and her school uniform set.  I can’t say I am very happy with the result but it’s not exactly the end of the world.  On one hand, it’s the first stumbling block I have encountered since I rolled out the Dollfie Dream Completion Project; but on the other hand, it will spare me from spending an extra $636 immediately.  I might eventually want to pick Rin up aftermarket and that usually mean I have to pay an extra 10-15% premium, so the fact that I couldn’t pick Rin up at the lottery event will mean that I have to spend more money in the long run.  The only saving grace for me is to relieve me of my guilt of spending too much money at one time >.>;  Enough talk about Dollfie Dream for now, let me move on to loots inspection.

A few boxes have arrived for inspection today.

And the content, half of the loots this time are purchased after reading reviews of the items from my live blogroll.

Before I go any further, I would like to take a moment to give my thanks to one of my comrades Optic from the Dis-jointedzone.  See that Nanoha Visual Collection in the upper right corner?  This must be like the second or third time that I went straight to order the magazine after reading Optic’s review, it really pays to go check his site once in a while to see if there is any good magazine out there :)   Thanks Optic!

Then in the middle pile we have G’s Magazine May edition, and I only really bought it as a tag along with the Nanoha Visual Collection, plus this issue comes with a bonus Estel Freesia bonus figure, yeah I know they are trading figure, but I need to have an Estel Freesia representative in my collection.  That little DS game tugged away at the bottom is the Super Robot War OG Saga: Endless Frontier.  I am a pretty big SRW fan and Endless Frontier has Kos-Mos Type IV from Xenosaga III as cross over, so I just have to buy it to show some support to Atlus so they would keep translating SRW games to the western auidence.

All the way to the left we have Raqel Gothic (original by Vispo) painted by E2046 Gathering.  Raqel is another immediate buy after I read her review at Exelica Meteor.  I am sure Jame’s photographic skill only help shows her beauty, but Gothic girl with a great axe is quite appealing by itself.  By the time I went to E2046 to look for her, version 3 was already sold out and the only one they have stock was version 1 and by the time they processed my order after the holiday weekend, they were down to 1 in stock.  A few days ago, in a rare occassion I have to say, E2046 has announced that will be making more Raqel Gothic version 2 due to increasing customer demand.  Now it’s probably the last chance you can grab a Raqel Gothic.

Edited: Tweaked some camera setting and the completed Raqel looks like this now:

For the past few days I have been busy putting up the new loots I have acquired from Anime Central Convention (and to take a well earned break from all that Yoake  Mae Yori Ruriiro na story summaries), but at the same time, I have been planning my next major move.  Some of you are probably aware that I have recently adopted Dollfie Dream Dynamite Escalayer and I have been extremely pleased with her as my first musume.

My next major project, has been given the code name DDCP, also known as  Dollfie Dream Completion Project has already been set in motion for a few days now, an unprecedented level of funding has already been approved as part of this project.

phpk1zz7p

And to quote one of the most heart felt statements I have seen recently from browsing through Dollfie Dream related blog sites:

I give up.  I saw pics of Rin Tosaka, Fate Testarossa, Nanoha Takamachi, Nagisa Furikawa, and Yoko/Nia Dollfie Dreams on Dannychoo.  I just give up.  I love Dollfie Dreams.  They give you so much more then static figures and statues can.  The detail and realism.  They are so lifelike.  And most importantly, they are 100% more moe then anime figures. -Punynari,Moé Passion

I can’t help it but to agree with Punynari, Dollfie Dream takes the Anime Figure collecting to the next level.  I used to not like dolls, like those made by Azone but the Volks Dollfie Dream line is different, I believe they are made to target Otaku like myself, with extremely well made and high quality doll-figure (where the word Dollfie comes from).  It is not to far outstretch to call them the ultimate figurine (to date) of your favorite 2D girls/Bishoujo.  In a recent Dannychoo.com post of the Realistic Yoko Figure from Max Factory, I see a lot of people commented about how the realistic Yoko doesn’t look Yoko anymore and anime heroines should retain their anime look, etc.  This is where Dollfie Dream really shine, they provide a solution to the life like anime figure that most Otaku like myself would prefer Dollfie Yoko.

I am sold, I am under the Dollfie Dream Fever right now, I am finding myself not getting as excited about PVC figurines as I have been in the past.  May 15th will be the one of the biggest day in recent months as Volks USA will announce the lottery result of the Doll Party 21 limited items.  I have submitted my entry for both Fate T Harlaown from Nanoha StrikerS and Rin Tohsaka from Fate Stay Night.  Let see if I get lucky this time and won’t have to go to aftermarket auction site to get my Dollfie Dream fix :)

Even with the economic downturn, almost everyone are scaling down their spending; including collector like myself.  However, there are  some figures that are so unique that one should assign priority to them over the run of the mill figures.  Let’s take a look at them:

First up, the leader of the pack, Fate Unlimited Code exclusive character Saber Lily 1/7 PVC ~Distant Avalon~ from Good Smile Company.  Do I need to say more?  Saber Lily actually debuted as a bonus figma with the Fate Unlimited Code Playstation 2 collector’s edition.  I knew it in my heart then there will be more figurines made with this costume, and I was right about it.  This version of Saber is arguably the best looking Saber figure between Fate stay night, Fate hollow ataraxia and Fate Unlimited Code.  There is something about this Saber figure that I know it will rank one of the best looking figures in 2009, and will certainly become one of the top five figures in my collection.

Next up is Nanoha Takamachi Swimsuit version also from GSC.  Now, let me be honest here,  I am a much bigger fan of Fate chan than Nanoha chan in the series.  However, knowing the GSC is already working on a paired Fate T. Hawlaown in all her swimsuit glory.  One cannot buy Fate without buying this Nanoha for the obligated symmetrical docking action!

nanohaswimsuit

Third place is the School swimsuit mecha nurse girl Nana Megami Magazine Vol.8 from Orchid Seed.  I have never been a huge fan of Orchid Seed figures, but this one caught my attention.  It’s a MS Girl!  MS Girls are hot, especially the ones drawn in 駒都えーじ’s personal website 「Passing Rim」. I secretly wish that every MS Girl drawn by 駒都えーじto be made into PVC figures!  I am sure Ryusei Date himself would be gunning for this one.

nursegirl

Fourth place is from a relatively small production company call Native, and they bring us a simply yet extremely sexy looking Kotone Ousaka, original illustration by the famous artist Tony.  There is apparently a story constructed behind this illustration.  This girl is actually a 22 years old 4th year university student studying to be a teacher!  In this particular illustration, she appears to be enjoying a midnight banana snack in front of her students, or is that a real banana?

kotone

Fifth place is Black Rock Shooter also from GSC (they are taking all the spots up ;x, and it’s not over yet!).  Now, I am not yet a big fan of Hatsune Miku or her variation character, the prototype pictures are stunning enough to convince me that this is a buy.  I will be most interested to see if her eyes are truly glowing.

blackrockshooter

Sixth place, also from GSC is the long awaited Adult Mikuru Asahina.  I am sure many of us have been waiting for a more mature looking Mikuru Asahina, and GSC is ready to deliver with a pose that we are all familiar with.

adultasahina

And finally, the last place, hanging on barely by a thread is from the Bible Black series, Limited release 2000 pieces Saeki Kaori & Takahiro Hiroko figure pair from Miyabiya.  I have never bought anything made by this company before, but I have always wanted to get a decent looking Saeki (I have always had the hot for Saeki), and with the last Saeki Kaori from C-Works Diva ended in utter disappointment, I am really looking forward to this one.

saekiandtakashiro

This conclude my immediate buy-list, at least for now.
