A few months ago, blogging comrade Blowfish asked me about how well has my figure collection aged through the years.  I promised him I would look into it because I just so happen to have a pair of identical figures that remained unopened for the past 6 years or so.  I am sorry Blowfish >.<;  I kept pushing this out and out and out and now I realized that I pushed it out for 4 months!  But today, I am going to make good on my promise and do what I said I was going to do 4 months ago!  Here I present to you the pair of Pia Carrot 3 Hasegawa Akemi Floral Mint Type made by Kotobukiya back in January 2004.  The figure on the your right hand has been opened since the day it arrived at my house but it has been under the protection of my dust shield since there; on the other hand, the figure on your left has stayed in the box during this entire time, no accidental exposure to Ultraviolet light, minimum contact with air, etc.

I have always considered Ultraviolet light and oxygen the two biggest enemies to my figure collection, so I have made it a point to never expose my figure collection under direct sunlight for an extended period of time since it can cause chemical reactions to the PVC or painted surfaces of the figure.  Oxygen on the other hand, is an extreme active agent that can react with just about anything, including but not limited to paint, plastic, metal given enough time.  Obviously, I cannot eliminate oxygen since I do not have a vacuum sealed display cabinet, but I have taken steps to slow down the oxidation process by restricting airflow to my figure collection through my Dust Shield +1. October has so far proven to be one of most important months this year in terms of figure releases this year, we had Saber Lily from GSC which has lived up to the expectation we have come to expect.  Since there are already so many Saber Lily photo shoot and reviews, I don’t feel I can offer anymore than what is already out there.  However, another package I have been expecting arrived today, I was going to wait until Dollfie Airi arrive before doing another photo shoot; but once I opened the box, that idea of waiting for Dollfie Airi went right out the window!  Ever since the Rebuild of Evangelion movie hitting the theater this past summer, Evangelion 2.0: You can (not) advance, we have been getting a nice revival on the Evangelion merchandises, what we have is 1/6 Asuka Langley Shikinami Plug Suit Ver. from the good folks of Kotobukiya!  And this is most probably the cream of the crop of all the new merchandises, I kid you not.  My jaw dropped as soon as I opened the box from HLJ…. Oh my god, she is a beauty!  The box, the presentation, everything is top notch!  This is most definitely a few steps above the normal Kotobukiya releases!  One of the few Kotobukiya figures that actually look better in person than the promotional pictures!

Isn’t she beautiful?  As a self proclaimed Asuka fan, this is most definitely a welcome addition to my collection of Asuka figures!  She is most probably the best looking Asuka in her plug suit PVC figure we have to-date!  Personally, I never felt we ever had a good Asuka plug suit PVC figure that I consider top notch but this is it!  Pretty soon I should do a photo shoot of my Asuka Collection~

More under the cut~

Several of my pre-order I placed over the past couple of months have finally arrived, among those are the Volks Model of Entertainment (M.O.E) 1/7 Fate T. Harlaown , Kotobukiya French Maid Asuka, E2046 Gathering Saber Lily Prepainted, and last but certainly not least is my newly acquired Nikon D5000 with AF-S Nikkor 18-105mm lens!

So far I am very happy with the D5000, it’s got the picture clarity that I have been longing for and while it is more complicated than my previous Sony Cybershot DSC-F707, I am starting to get the hang of it!  Since I am more or less a beginner, please pardon me if I come with a less than perfect focus shot!

I don’t know how many of you have noticed but for the past 24 hours or so, this website has virtually gone down due to the web hosting side problem.  The DNS server seemed to be in working condition but anything that had to do with the wordpress database has gone down to a crawl and would time out more often than not.  I was trying to be a good sport about it and tried to let the web hosting service to fix it by themselves.  However, the situation had not improved when I woke up in the morning so I had to put in a support ticket, they responded within 5 hours or so and it seems like the situation had improved a lot since then.  At least I haven’t gotten a time out (just yet)!

Anyway, not sure how many of you were expecting this to happen but I have finally made the jump and bought the Nikon D5000 and the 18-105mm lense from B&H online store.

I was assured that the package will be delivered this coming Thursday, so if the weather is nice outside, I would be taking “some” of my Dollfie Daughters out for a spin again!

My list of pre-ordered figures is creeping up on me again, visiting various blog sites and keeping myself update on release info is not helping me at all, yup, not helping.  First one is the Volks online store exclusive Fate T. Harlaown.  I have been waiting for release info on this figure and a few days ago I found out it is going to be exclusive to Volks online store when I was updating my profile on Tsuki-board.  I scambled to dig up my personal shopping service that I haven’t used in a few years to get this.  I was going to order the whole set of Hayate, Nanoha and Fate, but alas Hayate and Nanoha are already sold out even though the deadline for Hayate is April 15th.

I have talked about how I value my figurine collection and they must be protected from dust and dirt with my weather sealing film.  However, due to lack of display area in the past, I have never been able to protect every figurine I wanted to. With the new display area online and the 10 or so figures that are due to arrive later this year, I have decided to introduce a new system that can promote/demote my figurine collection from my dust protection system.  With me being an English Premier League fan, I thought of the promotion and relegation battle that takes place every year!  Poorly performing figures would be relegated out of my dust protection system (into the championship), newly release and high quality figurine can be promoted into the dust protection system (promote to premier league)!

With this being the first season, massive amount of figures have been promoted and relegated.  Let’s take a look at them, we will start with the relegated figures.

Finally managed to get my hands on a new tabletop tripod, hopefully I won’t have to worry about my shaky hands when I take photos of my figurine collection in the future.  The star for today is 1/8 Blanc Neige PVC from Kotobukiya released back in September 2008, the enchanting ice witch from the action role-playing game Shining Tears, Shining Wind and the anime adaptation Shining Tears x Wind.  Blanc Neige is another character that I come to like after I saw her  figurine on HLJ.  Actually, the first one to catch my attention was Kureha, but we will get back to her soon.  After I took notice of Blanc Neige and Kureha, I scrambled to find whatever information I could on them.  Luckily, an animation adaption was readily available so it was easy to get the back story of both characters.  I was sad to find out that Shining Wind has not been translated given the popularity of the series, here is hoping that someday, Shining Wind would be translated into English just like Shining Tears.

Enough talk, let’s move on to pictures.  This particular version of Blanc Neige come dressed in her sexy gown and mantle as seen in Shining Wind and Shining Tears x Wind.  The figure comes with limited cast-off options, as the only thing that is removable is the mantle, probably to simplify painting and manufacturing processes (and to show more skin!).  The lighting effect used in this photos shoot is the same as the last photo shoot done on Ryoko Asakura, it feels a little dark, but let’s take a look at them.
