Well, it’s still December 31st here where I live and I would like to wrap up this year by doing a photo shoot for the “just arrived” 1/4 Pre-painted Kos-Mos version 4 (Happy New Year to the folks in Eastern Hemisphere though!). I have always been a fan of Kos-Mos and the Xenosaga series, version 4 in particular is my favorite. Over the years, there had been rarely any good Kos-Mos figure, the Happinet version was fairly close but the expression seemed a bit too blank, the Alter 1/7 version was ok but the face sculpt really didn’t deliver for me, but I think my favorite version up to this point is the Alter 1/6 Kos-Mos Swimsuit version. The facial expression was still a little bit off for my taste but that was the closest we got so far. It will probably take this brand new 1/4 Kos-Mos to dethrone the best sculpted Kos-Mos crown from Alter. This 1/4 Kos-Mos will stand up to 18 inches from the resting surface to the tip of the Gatling gun, so be prepared to free up some space! As usual with Gathering Pre-Painted resin, paint job is done very nicely, the sculpt is clean and well defined. It’s pretty easy to put her together. As good as it looks though, this version I have ordered is not without flaws (which we will discuss later), but from the overall appearances and attention to details, this is still the best looking Kos-Mos figure I have to-date. So, without further ado, let’s get started~

A few days ago, blogsphere comrade Tier celebrated his acquisition of the rare and limited edition of pre-painted version of the 1/4 Uesugi Kenshin from Volks A-brand. I promised him to take a few pictures of my own 1/4 Gathering version for him to compare the finishing quality between the two. That reminded me, I never quite taken pictures of my 1/4 army, might as well take this chance to snap a few pics eh?
For those of you who are not familiar just who this Uesugi Kenshin is, please take a look at one of my earlier post for the 1/5 Uesugi Kenshin Freeing version. In 2007, in a survey done by Tech Gian, Kenshin narrowly defeated Saber from Fate Stay Night to become the most popular eroge game heroine of the year. Enough talking, let’s dig in~
As usual, click on pictures to show full scale image~
I picked up this Kenshin a few years ago, obviously I haven’t gotten in Dollfie Dream then. I have always treasured this Kenshin as the most elegant painted figure I have ever owned, like a goddess descended from heaven.
One of the most highly anticipated shipments of the year, GSC Saber Lily from the CAPCOM fighting game Fate Unlimited Code has finally arrived at my residence, a bit earlier than I expected but it’s not like I am complaining. Here is a overview of the loots:
- Good Smile Company 1/7 Saber Lily
- Native X Max Factory 1/7 Kotone Ousaka X2
- Suku-Mizu Mecha Nurse Girl Nana
- 60cm Doll Inner Oriental Lace Red
- 60cm Doll Inner Happy Ribbon Blue
- 60cm Chiffon One-Piece Black
- 60cm Lir Princess One-Piece Black
- TnK Princess Checked Bikiki set
- Bandai Action Bases X3
- Shimapan from Miss Dollfie Summer 2009
A bunch of stuffs has been arriving since the beginning of the month, from the figure end, besides the aforementioned GSC Saber Lily, there is also Kotone Ousaka from Native X Max Factory, an illustration turned figure from the all too well known master Tony, and Suku-Mizu Mecha Nurse Girl Nana, another illustration turned figure from the mecha girl expert E-Ji Komatsu.
More loots have arrived on this fine Saturday afternoon and I am just more than happy to perform a thorough inspection. Most of the goods that I ordered after I came back from Japan have arrived, and that means the long awaited Dollfie Dream size Decade Driver, Rider Booker and DiEnd Driver, the highly anticipated mini Revoltech Asuka, Bandai Movie version Asuka, Cospa Asuka T-shirts, plus a little more Dollfie Dream outfit and undies have arrived.
It’s been a long time since I have taken photos of my Gathering collection, perhaps I am just lazy taking them out from my dust free display. Anyway, with the new camera and everything, I have got to take this chance to do more testing on the camera and get myself familiar with it as soon as possible. Saber Lily arrived at a perfect time since I haven’t found a place to store her yet XD.
As usual with the Gathering series, you can expect high level of details and finishes, let just say their finishes is on par if not better than some of the leading PVC manufacturers. I have always been a fan of the painted resin figures because of their wider selection. And with their choice station, customer like me has some input as to what they want to work on next! I am putting my chips in a Gathering release of 1/4 Kos-mos version 4 from C3 X Hobby 2009. There is no a chance that I will ever have enough skills to build that kit myself, so I am waiting for a Gathering release for sure. I have been keeping the resolution the same as 4288 X 2828 on most of these shots, clicking on it should bring up the full size image from my flickr account.
I don’t know how many of you have noticed but for the past 24 hours or so, this website has virtually gone down due to the web hosting side problem. The DNS server seemed to be in working condition but anything that had to do with the wordpress database has gone down to a crawl and would time out more often than not. I was trying to be a good sport about it and tried to let the web hosting service to fix it by themselves. However, the situation had not improved when I woke up in the morning so I had to put in a support ticket, they responded within 5 hours or so and it seems like the situation had improved a lot since then. At least I haven’t gotten a time out (just yet)!
Anyway, not sure how many of you were expecting this to happen but I have finally made the jump and bought the Nikon D5000 and the 18-105mm lense from B&H online store.
I was assured that the package will be delivered this coming Thursday, so if the weather is nice outside, I would be taking “some” of my Dollfie Daughters out for a spin again!
I have talked about how I value my figurine collection and they must be protected from dust and dirt with my weather sealing film. However, due to lack of display area in the past, I have never been able to protect every figurine I wanted to. With the new display area online and the 10 or so figures that are due to arrive later this year, I have decided to introduce a new system that can promote/demote my figurine collection from my dust protection system. With me being an English Premier League fan, I thought of the promotion and relegation battle that takes place every year! Poorly performing figures would be relegated out of my dust protection system (into the championship), newly release and high quality figurine can be promoted into the dust protection system (promote to premier league)!
With this being the first season, massive amount of figures have been promoted and relegated. Let’s take a look at them, we will start with the relegated figures.
