This post probably should have gone out last week!  All thanks to Starcraft II I have completely forgotten to follow up on the Home Town Dolpa Osaka 6 After Event Limited Item Lottery.

The Entry period has already started, interested individual have until 11:00am on the 19th of August (Japan Time) to submit your lottery entry to Volks International website and they have all the details available there.  Interestingly enough, Volks has made a rather unusual move to dedicate a page to explain the details on the after event here, perhaps they too realize the potential international audience is getting larger everyday ^^; View Full Article »

A few days ago we have learned about the limited items due to release in the Home Town Dolpa Osaka 6 and today Volks USA has finally released the lottery detail today!

A few days ago Volks has finally announced the Dollfie Dream set to debut in Home Town Dolpa Osaka 6, since I am already quite familiar with Mari Illustrious Makinami from the Rebuild of Evangelion 2.0: You can (not) advance after seeing the movie in Japan last year and again in subtitle format; my attention turned to two girls from the eroge game Pure White Symphony ましろ色シンフォニー 「瓜生桜乃」Uryuu Sakuno and 「天羽みう」 Amaha Miu.  While I am not overly fond of the face molds of these two DD myself, but I guess I will fancy myself with their story since I picked up some encouraging words from some figure.fm comrades that I will not be disappointed with Amaha Miu’s eroge scene ^^;

ましろ色シンフォニー

Pure White Symphony came with some pretty tough regional protection, conventional method such as AppLocale or AGTH couldn’t bypass it and I to use a new tool call ntleac developed by a gentleman in Taiwan I believe. View Full Article »

Continuing my coverage of Dollfie Dream Asuka goes to Acen from Day 1, there was another Doll Meet arranged by the good folks from Den of Angels on the 2nd day.  There were quite a few more people showed up on the 2nd day since it was on Saturday.

Here is a shot of my lovely Asuka sporting her Rebuild of Evangelion uniform before we headed out!  The shoes were borrowed from Estel’s casual dress set.

This has been a relatively productive weekend so far, there were several tasks that I set out to do, including clearing out some old eroge magazines, some old product manuals (stuff that I no longer check in years) and reshuffling display area to make room for my 11th-13th daughters (well Kiriha will arrive first but I got to make room for Rina and Yuki too!)

I have been wanting to clear out this bottom 2 shelves for some time now, they used to be occupied by some very old eroge magazines which are going to the recycle bin.

Back in the late 90s to 2003 or so, before the Internet really kick into high gear, I used to get most of the eroge game info from magazines such as E-Login and PC Angel (I am not really sure if E-Login is still in publication) but nowadays, it’s just so much easier to get up-to-date information from massive website such as Getchu.com, it would be highly unusual for me to go back to those days of reading eroge mag, but if I do, it would be for novelty purpose or they have some giveaway that are hard to resist. I have let myself gone a tad lazy for the past couple of days, I have been wanting to write an article about PVC figure aging based on suggestions from blogging comrade blowfish, but alas, I am still procrastinating over it because I have been mostly occupied by the news of Dolpa 22 and the new White Album Dollfie Dream releases~

A bunch of us in the flickr group have started to speculate over what Dollfie Dream might be coming out in the winter doll party, the first clue we had came about a little over a week ago when we found out about the White Album webpage that didn’t have any images on it at the time, however, as more information became available, the White Album Dollfie Dream were not due to come out in this upcoming Dolpa but instead a web order exclusive project similar to that of the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann DD Project.

Initially, I was very hesitant about the story of White Album after reading some online review about it, but my mind began to sway when I was presented with the project image…. these are some really good Dollfie Dream candidates… and at the very minimum, these idol style clothing would fit my Dollfie Dream daughters very well!  After a few more conversation with a few figure.fm members, I decided I have to at learn about Rina and Yuki despite the fact that I may not be very interested in the plot of the story (based on my understanding thus far, the main protagonist is a real prick…. all of the guys were real prick…, why… I want to read about some decent/hotblood guy doing his best, not a real prick getting involved in multiple women!).  Anyway, I have already decided to at least see what kind of girls 森川 由綺 Morikawa Yuki and 緒方 理奈 Ogata Rina are, then so be it.

October has so far proven to be one of most important months this year in terms of figure releases this year, we had Saber Lily from GSC which has lived up to the expectation we have come to expect.  Since there are already so many Saber Lily photo shoot and reviews, I don’t feel I can offer anymore than what is already out there.  However, another package I have been expecting arrived today, I was going to wait until Dollfie Airi arrive before doing another photo shoot; but once I opened the box, that idea of waiting for Dollfie Airi went right out the window!  Ever since the Rebuild of Evangelion movie hitting the theater this past summer, Evangelion 2.0: You can (not) advance, we have been getting a nice revival on the Evangelion merchandises, what we have is 1/6 Asuka Langley Shikinami Plug Suit Ver. from the good folks of Kotobukiya!  And this is most probably the cream of the crop of all the new merchandises, I kid you not.  My jaw dropped as soon as I opened the box from HLJ…. Oh my god, she is a beauty!  The box, the presentation, everything is top notch!  This is most definitely a few steps above the normal Kotobukiya releases!  One of the few Kotobukiya figures that actually look better in person than the promotional pictures!

Isn’t she beautiful?  As a self proclaimed Asuka fan, this is most definitely a welcome addition to my collection of Asuka figures!  She is most probably the best looking Asuka in her plug suit PVC figure we have to-date!  Personally, I never felt we ever had a good Asuka plug suit PVC figure that I consider top notch but this is it!  Pretty soon I should do a photo shoot of my Asuka Collection~

I have always wanted to go back and do some vintage figure shoot (I guess at least some of you must be bored by the constant Dollfie posts, let’s break it up with something different!), but the lack of proper equipment has prohibited me from doing so.  Some of my earliest prepainted figure collection date back about 7 -9 years or so and the picking were slim back in those days.  PVC figures were no where near as high quality as we see from Good Smile Company or Alter today.  Instead, most of the above average quality figures were cold cast polystone, or just resin figures that you need to paint yourself.  Today, we will take a look at my Evangelion duo that has been part of my earliest collection.  Their quality is of course, not close to the high standard we hold the top tier figure manufacturers today, but they are indeed vintage and we can see just how far the figurine industry has come along!
