It's been almost two weeks since I started this Yoake Mae yori Ruriiro na Visual Novel marathon run project which includes the original Yoake Mae yori Ruriiro na Visual Novel (2005) August soft, Yoake Mae yori Ruriiro na -Brighter than dawning blue- (2009) Aria soft and Yoake Mae yori Ruriiro na -Moonlight Cradle- (2009) August soft, it's a massive undertaking that I have never attempted before. But after over a week worth of effort, I am finally getting close to the midway point. This project really started when I redecorated my room with three Feena fam Earthlight Dakimakuras and one bath towel, then all of a sudden I wondered about how much do I really know about her.

Been quiet for the past couple of days, but I finally started to feel better for the past day so I decided to catch this chance to go out with my Dollfie Daughters again. The main objective this time was to correct a few oversights I had in the last outing so I had to take DD Asuka アスカ and DD Rin 遠坂 凛 out again, but that would be a tad too dry just to keep taking photos of those two so I decided to take DD Saber out with me as well.
I have always heard about how Anime Expo is one of the largest anime convention in North America but I have never once thought about going there myself in previous years. However, the convergence of various factors this year including the chance of meeting some of the friends I have made online at figure.fm, a trip to Volks USA and meeting Danny in person were enough to persuade me to make this journey. So, for this past weekend, I have picked my most pampered Dollfie Dream, DD娃娃 Kiriha Kuze 紅瀬桐葉 to accompany me to Anime Expo 2010 in Los Angeles!
Alright, so I finally made it to the new cast on the PS2 port version Estel Freesia. What can I say about her? Estel is quite a tsundere, more than Natsuki (especially after I started her Moonlight Cradle arc) and definitely a tough nut to crack! I am going to try a slightly different approach and compact her story a bit more, Feena's story was way too long and I probably had way too much details in the last writeup.
For the past month or so, I have been secretly working a large scale Dollfie Dream photo shoot to celebrate the arrival of my fifteenth Dollfie Dream daughter Erika and fourteenth daughter Estel (since Estel never did get a proper photo shoot of her own, partly because I knew I had Erika on the way
I am just going to say it to get it off my chest, Natsuki Takamizawa (鷹見沢 菜月) deserves more attention than she is getting! Ok, while I don't think Natsuki is in the same league as Feena in terms of elegance and beauty, and she may just be a plain Jane next door neighborhood girl; but she is quite cute in her own rights, I don't understand why there hasn't been a single figure made of her yet.
I originally planned to hold on to this group photo session before the Dollfie Dream Theater storyline has a chance to catch up and introduce the new character as a surprise element, but Volks USA has informed me yesterday that I have just hit the "surprise element" deadline >.>;;; Anyway, the long and short of it is that I have picked up a 2nd Sasara back in Hometown Nagoya 4 After Event party...
It's been another intense camera action day as I have a lot on my agenda. The first order of business is to have two of my lovely daughters to try out the two of the most adorable maid dress set from Kyoto 7, Sasara School Swimsuit Maid and He is My Master Maid Dress set. There is no argument for who should wear the School Swimsuit Maid, but there was room for debate for the He is My Master Dress set, I finally decided to have Kiriha model for us, why Kiriha? Because she is my most pampered daughter! There will be some hints of yuri action here and there in this photo session, as I finally come to term to fulfill the promise I made way back to take some yuri photos for my daughters XD. Ever since the announcement of Dollfie Dream Sasara 久寿川 ささら by Volks a few days ago, I have assigned utmost priority to learn about Sasara's story. It's funny that I have been putting it off for more than a year, and I know I have been wanting to do it but the announcement of DD Sasara gave me the final nudge in the back I needed to start another visual novel marathon. I suppose this is my first Leaf game as well.
A few weeks ago I announced that I will be holding an Adopt a Sasara Contest and I have spent the last couple of weeks trying decide on a contest format that is fair and have the ability to incorporate my own opinion as well as public opinion and finally, to test the contestants' knowledge about Sasara! I have actually decided on the contest format some time ago but since we are drawing close to December, I think it's best to get the contest started, the intent is of course to have Sasara arrive at her new home before Christmas.
It has been a long wait since I have won the bloodiest auction battle I have ever participated in order to win the right to bring one of the rarest Dollfie Dream Kuze Kiriha 紅瀬桐葉 home, released at Kyoto 5 of 2008, but her appearances in Yahoo Japan Auction is considerably more rare than Dollfie Dream before her such as Feena Fam Earthlight and Estel Freesia, Dollfie Dream that released along with her, such as Erika Sendo; and Dollfie Dream that released after her, such as Saber, Asuka Langley Soryu and Rei Ayanami.
How I managed to tour Japan in 3 Days and 4 Nights while hitting all the hot spots like Odaiba Gundam, Evangelion 2.0 You can (not) advance, Kamen Rider Decade Movie - All Riders vs. Dai Shocker with shopping in Akihabara! My assistant Pretty Fräulein Asuka-chan will guide you through all that.
How long has it been since I acquired the cloak for Saber? Hmm ever since Airi arrived? Yeah, I been wanting to do a Saber solo shoot out for that long, but laziness and procrastination delayed it for this long! Errr, not really, I was busy with other stuff and had the lighting setup packed away and didn't pull them back out until just recently. Anyway, I been wanting to do this shoot out with Saber standing in front of the Buckingham Palace and I have finally done it! I think I managed to pack a few pretty good shots in there, hopefully you would enjoy them as much as I did :D
A few days ago, I welcomed my Sixteenth Dollfie Dream Daughter DD娃娃 人偶 Matou Sakura to my family; and I had Saber, Rin and Ecchi Lion came out to gave Sakura a warm welcome; but that was not all that I had in mind! The number sixteenth daughter also mark the completion of a Platoon!! Since such a significant milestone cannot be ignored or overlooked.... so I have decided to summon all of my daughters together for a full family portrait (it's been a while since I did the last family photo)! This special event is also know as Dollfie Dream Daughters Grand Glorious Gathering, DDDGGG for short!

A few days ago Volks has finally announced the Dollfie Dream set to debut in Home Town Dolpa Osaka 6, since I am already quite familiar with Mari Illustrious Makinami from the Rebuild of Evangelion 2.0: You can (not) advance after seeing the movie in Japan last year and again in subtitle format; my attention turned to two girls from the eroge game Pure White Symphony ましろ色シンフォニー 「瓜生桜乃」Uryuu Sakuno and 「天羽みう」 Amaha Miu. While I am not overly fond of the face molds of these two DD myself, but I guess I will fancy myself with their story since I picked up some encouraging words from some figure.fm comrades that I will not be disappointed with Amaha Miu’s eroge scene ^^;

One of the other objectives since I was already going to be in Anime Expo 2010 was to attend the JAST USA Bishoujo Game panel hosted by J-List, one of the very few companies brought Japanese goodies to the USA market back in the 90s. Nowadays, while I am already capable to play most of the Japanese Bishoujo games with the tools I have available to me, but that doesn’t mean I don’t care about the companies that continues to try to localize Bishoujo games for the English speaking world. Since JAST USA announced last year that they are working with Nitro+ to localize Demonbane into English, a game I have yet to play, that really prompted me to make it to their panel to hear what they are working on.
I guess many of us may have started to lose faith in Illusion soft’s ability to produce entertaining games in recent years but they have announced earlier this month that they have been working on Schoolmate 2, and Schoolmate is the last remaining play worthy title in their line up in my opinion. This might look interesting~
I am on the Illusion soft newsletter and I just got this info today, nothing much is available yet except they introduced all the heroines today.
Features that were introduced in Real Kanojo like 2 mouses operation will be ported into the Schoolmate 2, why do you need 2 mouses? Well you sort of always do uses 2 hands right?
Just two weeks ago I welcomed my Thirteenth Dollfie Dream Daughter Kiriha, I really didn’t expect to adopt the Fourteenth Daughter so quickly after paying up for Rina and Yuki last month; but really good deal rarely shows up in Yahoo Japan Auction and as I explained before in my last post, the deal I got for Estel was just too good to pass up and on top of that I have always been thinking about adopting Estel to make up for missing out on her PVC figure when it was on sale last year. So here we are, after just welcoming my thirteenth daughter two weeks ago, my lovely loot inspection assistant Feena has once again joined us to introduce her youngest sister yet, Estel Freesia.
For those of you who may not be aware, Feena and Estel actually came from the same PC game (they even share the same Dollfie Dream head mold), Bright than Dawning Blue / Yoake Mae Yori Ruriiro na. Estel was a character introduced in the PS2 version of the game and it was ported back into PC in 2009, along with the release of Moonlight Cradle which was rated as the 2nd best seller in 2009 by Getchu.com

With the last game from Illusion soft Yuusha[You Can't Escape From the Heroine] ended in utter disappointment, so bad that I didn’t bother writing a blog post about it (I gave up within 10 minutes of game play); I was really on the fence on whether I should even try to play their newest game Real Kanojo リアル彼女 which literally means Real Girlfriend. For the last couple of years, Illusion soft has been focusing all of their effort on “sex simulator”, gone are the days of action adventure game such as AGA and *glup* can I say Des Blood 4? Schoolmate Sweet! and @Homemate turned out to be adequately entertaining that I was at least curious about the game, boasting as their latest innovation in 3D technology and it even come with a pair of 3D glasses with the purchase of the game, by the account from Illusion soft, their demo version of the game has been downloaded 600,000 times!

How should I put this? I think I sealed the deal to adopt all of the Dollfie Dream that Volks licensed from August soft the moment I decided to adopt my thirteenth daughter Kiriha… because soon after I finished the paper work to bring her home, I suddenly came up with a very dangerous idea about doing a group photo based solely on the August girls (I call Feena, Estel, Erika and Kiriha as August Girls because they are all based on Visual Novel from August Soft, Brigther than Dawning Blue and Fortune Arterial respectively). Some of my regular visitors here probably have read about the summary story I have written for Estel last year [Estel Freesia's normal arc]. Overall, I have to say I have taken a liking in her but not necessarily strong enough at the time to adopt her Dollfie Dream form last year, but I have in various occasions thought about doing so. I have regretted over not picking up her Kotobukiya 1/8 scale figure when it was on sale last year, and I have been thinking about redeeming myself one of these days. I even picked up her priestess uniform and her casual dress already, preparing to have Feena cosplay as Estel for photo shoot… but that plan fell apart after I came up with that group photo idea…
I really didn’t plan on adopting Estel so soon since I have just paid for Rina, Yuki and Kiriha and was planning to wait and see what Dolpa 23 had to offer before going for her; however, a very special deal on Yahoo Japan Auction came up this morning offering a brand new DD Estel and her casual dress for 70k with buy it now option. Even though I have already acquired Estel’s casual dress in a previous auction, that deal is just too good for me to pass up! For those of you who is not familiar with Estel’s casual dress, I have found a website that show us how versatile that dress is! With the dress valued at about 20k yen, that effectively put a brand new Estel at 50k, which is almost as good as a steal! View Full Article »
In the last couple of days, I have seen blogging friend Blowfish to first reviewed his Queen’s Blade Reina Battle Book (NSFW) and Tier, not willing to let Blowfish to have all the glory of having more tentacles in his website than his own, pulled out his Mahou Shoujo Ai Illustrations (NSFW). Now, while I have never been really vocal about my love and enjoyment of tentacles eroge, but it’s time for me to step up to my plate and show off my collection of tentacle related artbook! To prove that I am no less of a tentacles fan than Blowfish and Tier! Besides Mahou Shoujo Ai, which is right up there in the top tier of Tentacles Eroges, but there is another series of games that are also very famous for their SLG and tentacles actions, and that is the Mahou Senshi series 魔法戦士 by Triangle Soft, which I have previously discussed about in my 魔動装兵クラインハーゼ Kleinhasa post. For the past couple of days, I have been focusing entirely on Fortune Arterial game progress. I really should have played this game several months ago but I blame it on a short summary that I read and gave me a totally wrong impression on Erika… but since the 64 bit compatibility problem surfaced last month, I quickly picked up my pace and decided to dive right into the game.
My main focus on playing Fortune Arterial is of course to learn about the stories of the two heroines I am interested in, namely Sendo Erika and Kuza Kiriha.
So today, I would like to set a little time aside to talk about regional protection of eroge game in general. Before Windows XP came along, the only way to “properly” run Japanese eroge games was to purchase a separate copy of Windows 95 or Windows 98 and install them into a separate partition in the main hard disk using an off the shelf MBR overlay software such as System Commander… that was how I used to run Windows based eroge game back in the early 90s. Windows XP changed all that, with the ability to install East Asian language pack and applocale basically took care of all the language compatibility issue for the past decade or so… However, the situation is starting to change again … quite possibly after a public outrage of having an eroge game called “Rapelay” released by Illusion being offered for sale in Amazon UK in early 2009, a string of Eroge game publishing companies have begun tightening the sale of their software outside of Japan, some companies have decided to ban all ip addresses except for those in Japan, some companies have implemented tough regional protection scheme, company such as Triangle.
I have have always been a fan of Triangle Soft’s game, their long line of Mahou Senshin games
