I have always heard about how Anime Expo is one of the largest Anime Conventions in North America but I have never once thought about going there myself in previous years.  However, the convergence of various factors this year including the chance of meeting some of the friends I have made online at figure.fm, a trip to Volks USA and meeting Danny in person were enough to convince me to make this journey.  Not to mention that based on my previous experience at Acen 2010, an anime convention is the perfect opportunity for me to take my Dollfie Dream daughter outside for some intense photo sessions without having to worry about uncomfortable stare from onlookers not familiar with Japanese anime.  So, for this past weekend, I have my most pampered Dollfie Dream daughter, DD娃娃 Kiriha Kuze 紅瀬桐葉 to accompany me to Anime Expo 2010 in Los Angeles!

Continuing my coverage of Dollfie Dream Asuka goes to Acen from Day 1, there was another Doll Meet arranged by the good folks from Den of Angels on the 2nd day.  There were quite a few more people showed up on the 2nd day since it was on Saturday.

Today I took my 2nd Dollfie Dream daughter Asuka to attend one of the biggest anime convention around my area, Anime Central, also known as Acen.  I didn’t plan on going to this event originally, however, fellow blogger Anonymous_Object from Cool & Spicy is traveling across the state line to come to this convention, so I decided to go as well since it would be a good opportunity to see his Yui in person.

There was a Doll meet arranged by the folks from Den of Angels, and here are some of the shots I took at the meet!

Today, I would like to bring you another edition of Otaku Project.  With only a few days away from Anime Central, I have been preparing my Dollfie Dream daughters so they would be ready for their first Anime Convention.  I have picked out the dresses they are going to wear, got the Volks SD carrying bag ready, almost everything but a dollfie stand that could be mounted on top of a tripod so I can take pictures on the go and easily.  I know what you are thinking, you are talking about the Dollfie World stand!  It is true that the Dollfie World stand has brought forth a very unique feature to the world of DD photography, very useful indeed!  While I would love to have one of those stand myself  but it’s been out of stock for the past month or so (as of writing of this post, it is already back in stock but it is too late to meet my Anime Central schedule!).  So, with only so little time left, I figure I got to take matters into my own hand and try to retrofit one of my existing Volks wooden base stand with the same feature.

I thought about what I could do with the materials I have on hand, then I figured all I needed to do is to press fit a 1/4-20 hex nut on the bottom side of the base so that it could be mounted to a tripod adapter!

So the first thing I got to do is the find the approximate center point of the base so that the base would be somewhat balanced.

Gosh, I procrastinated for so long.  I actually intended to do this part of the story a while back but I was blogged down by playing Fortune Arterial in January, and so desperately hunting for my 13th Daughter Kiriha in February, so much that I was not able to bring myself to do anything else other than search for her all day and night; and then I spent the better half of March waiting for Kiriha to arrive and and that’s how I ended up doing this new episode of Dollfie Dream Theater now.  For those of you who may be interested in refreshing your memory, here is the last episode Dollfie Dream Theater – The New Scenario.  This new episode focuses on introducing Natsuki to the Dollfie Rider Team, please enjoy~

Oh my, how long has it been since I had last filmed any Dollfie Dream Theater episode? Ehhhh, too long…. I actually have something planned but haven’t been able to pull myself together to film the next story, which is to introduce Natsuki into the team.  Anyway, I have got a little side story prepared for you all to have a little chuckle with, hope you would enjoy it!  It all started a week ago when I came up with a secret project that involve using using a site call Snapfish.  I am sure a lot of you are already familiar with the name if you have a flickr account, here is a little story that I came up with.  Hope you will enjoy it =D  Hopefully this will serve as the warm up I needed to film the next Dollfie Dream Theater.

This has been a relatively productive weekend so far, there were several tasks that I set out to do, including clearing out some old eroge magazines, some old product manuals (stuff that I no longer check in years) and reshuffling display area to make room for my 11th-13th daughters (well Kiriha will arrive first but I got to make room for Rina and Yuki too!)

I have been wanting to clear out this bottom 2 shelves for some time now, they used to be occupied by some very old eroge magazines which are going to the recycle bin.

Back in the late 90s to 2003 or so, before the Internet really kick into high gear, I used to get most of the eroge game info from magazines such as E-Login and PC Angel (I am not really sure if E-Login is still in publication) but nowadays, it’s just so much easier to get up-to-date information from massive website such as Getchu.com, it would be highly unusual for me to go back to those days of reading eroge mag, but if I do, it would be for novelty purpose or they have some giveaway that are hard to resist. One of my greatest joy, as a father of 10 Dollfie Dream Daughters (soon to be 12~), for me at least, is to capture their various images in different environments.  Dollfie Dream might not have swappable heads like a figma, but a slight turn of head can easily give off a different aura for any particular photo~

Soon after sending in my first customer gallery submission to Volks USA, I have been thinking about sending the photos I took for Asuka back in late September 2009, some of which I consider as my best work to-date.  I am really proud of how Asuka look in that pink flower bed, I really do!  The staffs at Volks USA were once again very responsive to my submission and told me they will put the pictures up in a few days and sure enough, my 2nd daughter Asuka is featured on their Sumika Times Blog today :)

A few days ago I sent my White Album Dollfie Dream Support Message to Volks USA to show my appreciation and support for their White Album Project.  The staffs at Volks USA really appreciated my message and told me they would forward my message to their team in Japan.  Today, they posted the pictures of my girls in their Sumika Times Blog page!
