For the past month I have been in the hunt for my thirteenth daughter and it turned out to be one of the bloodiest auction battle I have ever fought in Yahoo Japan Auction… So who is this new daughter?  For the few of you who might have frequented the Puchi Blurbs in figure.fm, this new girls is one of the two Home Town Dolpa Kyoto 5 girls, here I present to you Kuze Kiriha!  Among one of the rarest Dollfie Dream in the auction market to-date.

Some of you might have recalled that I began playing Fortune Arterial in January, and as I got familiar with the story and the main characters, it became painfully obvious to me that I have to take Kiriha home somehow.  I have always liked the look of Kiriha but due to the lack of understanding of her story, I decided to pass on her when I saw her auctions last year.  What a costly mistake that was!  In fact, Kiriha had just become my most expensive daughter to-date, surpassing the almighty Saber. Over the past year since I have entered the world of Dollfie Dream, I have mistakenly allowed some of my most desired items slipped past my grasp.  I waited for months and months without finding them again, and I was left with pondering why I didn’t try harder when the chance was available.  This past two months of 2010 has been especially meaningful to me, since quite a few of the items I missed out on has reappeared in front of me.  This time I wasn’t going to let them slip pass me again!  A pretty big haul that is, but I am very happy that I have finally gotten them in my hands!  So, let’s take a look at them, shall we?

For the past couple of days, I have been focusing entirely on Fortune Arterial game progress.  I really should have played this game several months ago but I blame it on a short summary that I read and gave me a totally wrong impression on Erika… but since the 64 bit compatibility problem surfaced last month, I quickly picked up my pace and decided to dive right into the game.

My main focus on playing Fortune Arterial is of course to learn about the stories of the two heroines I am interested in, namely Sendo Erika and Kuza Kiriha.

I talked about writing an update post the other day, finally got around to do it now.  To tell the truth, ever since I migrated to Windows 7, I have been on a scramble to get all the eroge games I love running; the fact that I have a huge pile of them sitting didn’t help at all!  So on the top of the agenda this month was to tackle some of the games that I absolutely need to finish, such as Madou Souhei Kleinhasa and Fortune Arterial. One of my greatest fear before migrating to Windows 7 64bit edition was compatibility issues with all the legacy eroge games and all the support applications I use to play them.  Luckily there were very few problems so far.  Most the eroge games I want to keep running have been able to run so far; however, there were a few exceptions, most notably the new regional protection scheme being deployed by one of my favorite eroge game companies Triangle, their fierce regional protection scheme have left me in fear for quite some time.

In my last post on this topic, I talked about how I bypassed this regional protection scheme, by using the free Windows XP mode Japanese language edition, however that method is by no means perfect, most notably the color support is only up to 16bit and sound support also left a lot to be desired (a certain Austrian Otaku has pointed me in the right direction, which I will talk about in a little bit).  After more thorough searches, I finally managed to locate a proper regional patch on a Chinese forum that will enable Madou Souhei Kleinhasa to run on a non-native Japanese OS (for whatever reason, it was never leaked back to the English forum such as Hongfire, no idea why it hasn’t happened yet).

It’s been almost two weeks since I started this Yoake Mae yori Ruriiro na Visual Novel marathon run project which includes the original Yoake Mae yori Ruriiro na Visual Novel (2005) August soft, Yoake Mae yori Ruriiro na -Brighter than dawning blue- (2009) Aria soft and Yoake Mae yori Ruriiro na -Moonlight Cradle- (2009) August soft, it’s a massive undertaking that I have never attempted before.   But after over a week worth of effort, I am finally getting close to the midway point.  This project really started when I redecorated my room with three Feena fam Earthlight Dakimakuras and one bath towel, then all of a sudden I wondered about how much do I really know about her.  Sure I have watched Brighter than dawning blue ~Cresent Love~ but that may not be adequate given the amount collector’s items I have on her and the fact that the animation may not represent the game character adequately.  On top of that, I have always been curious about the 2nd tier heroine Natsuki Takamizawa and the new cast from PS2 port Estel Freesia.  All that curiosity became a massive determination to drive me to work on all three Visual Novels in a row.

The effort really paid off, I really enjoyed the games so far, the games frequently put you in the main character’s shoes and have confronted you with questions that don’t have a clear cut answer.  After I finished Feena’s normal end and Natsuki’s end, I started talking about Natsuki’s story in an earlier post while I really should have started from the beginning and give the proper background information regarding the the whole story.  Without further ado, let me set the record straight once and for all.
