Today, I would like to bring you another edition of Otaku Project.  With only a few days away from Anime Central, I have been preparing my Dollfie Dream daughters so they would be ready for their first Anime Convention.  I have picked out the dresses they are going to wear, got the Volks SD carrying bag ready, almost everything but a dollfie stand that could be mounted on top of a tripod so I can take pictures on the go and easily.  I know what you are thinking, you are talking about the Dollfie World stand!  It is true that the Dollfie World stand has brought forth a very unique feature to the world of DD photography, very useful indeed!  While I would love to have one of those stand myself  but it’s been out of stock for the past month or so (as of writing of this post, it is already back in stock but it is too late to meet my Anime Central schedule!).  So, with only so little time left, I figure I got to take matters into my own hand and try to retrofit one of my existing Volks wooden base stand with the same feature.

I thought about what I could do with the materials I have on hand, then I figured all I needed to do is to press fit a 1/4-20 hex nut on the bottom side of the base so that it could be mounted to a tripod adapter!

So the first thing I got to do is the find the approximate center point of the base so that the base would be somewhat balanced.

For the past week or so I have been trying recuperate from my extended Dollfie Dream photography sessions, while I still have many things to do and I am not remotely done with the last setup yet, such as re-shooting and perfecting some of the NSFW photos (my first attempt in taking a completely new direction and taking more sensual DD photos, this NSFW set of photos turned out to be some of my best work to-date!) into a more SFW setting, getting some of the better photos printed out large scale at deviantART, which I plan to review once the photo arrived; getting some pillow case made up again etc.

While I have been recuperating for the past week, I turned my attention back to my recently renovated blog, in an attempt to finish the job that I started.  One of the few things that bothered me that most after migrating to this new Motion Wordpress theme was the lack of comment count from the main blog page, I visited the author’s homepage and notice there are other people who had the same problem but the author was too busy to help us get that worked out.  There were some people who had managed to figure out a way around it but they didn’t leave enough details for me to perform the same operation on the theme file myself.  I have tried to follow what little instruction there is to perform these theme file modification several times without success and was on the verge of giving up.  However, I finally managed to add the two features I wanted to my blog last night, which is comment count and post view!

I guess it has been long overdue, but I have decided to give my website a new look by switching to a new wordpress theme, hopefully this will give my website a cleaner and more vibrant look than last year.

This new theme will also give me the ability to use slightly larger pictures in my post, which is something I have been looking forward to be able to do for some time now.  Please feel free to leave any comments you might have on the new look of the site, I am still looking to do some customization to it myself but I am no expert in php programming so going to have to take it one step at a time.  The only draw back I see with this new theme is the fewer number of widget areas on the side bar.  With my old theme, I was able to load a left and right sidebar on top of the full side bar.  Hopefully, this is something I can overcome with time.

Other site related news involve updating my blogroll, on a glance, I notice some of the links I have in my blogroll has seen over 100 days without an update… so, I am starting to scrub some of these out of date sites off the list.  If you are one of these blog owners and still intend to keep your blog alive in the new future, please feel free to contact me and I will be glad to put the link back in active duty again.  On the other hand, if you are a blogger and feel my visitors could benefit from visiting your site, please feel free to drop me a line here and I will be glad to add your site to my blogroll.

Oh, before I forget, I have just opened another category called “Featured”, basically another way to let me tag anything that I believe are worth taking a look at since I have created well over 200 posts in the past year and a lot of content are now buried in the sand of time!  Hopefully this will allow me to highlight important content for any new and old visitors alike!

With the Easter weekend coming, I have got to get busy and hopefully be able to film the next episode of Dollfie Dream Theater!

Oh my, how long has it been since I had last filmed any Dollfie Dream Theater episode? Ehhhh, too long…. I actually have something planned but haven’t been able to pull myself together to film the next story, which is to introduce Natsuki into the team.  Anyway, I have got a little side story prepared for you all to have a little chuckle with, hope you would enjoy it!  It all started a week ago when I came up with a secret project that involve using using a site call Snapfish.  I am sure a lot of you are already familiar with the name if you have a flickr account, here is a little story that I came up with.  Hope you will enjoy it =D  Hopefully this will serve as the warm up I needed to film the next Dollfie Dream Theater.

A few months ago, blogging comrade Blowfish asked me about how well has my figure collection aged through the years.  I promised him I would look into it because I just so happen to have a pair of identical figures that remained unopened for the past 6 years or so.  I am sorry Blowfish >.<;  I kept pushing this out and out and out and now I realized that I pushed it out for 4 months!  But today, I am going to make good on my promise and do what I said I was going to do 4 months ago!  Here I present to you the pair of Pia Carrot 3 Hasegawa Akemi Floral Mint Type made by Kotobukiya back in January 2004.  The figure on the your right hand has been opened since the day it arrived at my house but it has been under the protection of my dust shield since there; on the other hand, the figure on your left has stayed in the box during this entire time, no accidental exposure to Ultraviolet light, minimum contact with air, etc.

I have always considered Ultraviolet light and oxygen the two biggest enemies to my figure collection, so I have made it a point to never expose my figure collection under direct sunlight for an extended period of time since it can cause chemical reactions to the PVC or painted surfaces of the figure.  Oxygen on the other hand, is an extreme active agent that can react with just about anything, including but not limited to paint, plastic, metal given enough time.  Obviously, I cannot eliminate oxygen since I do not have a vacuum sealed display cabinet, but I have taken steps to slow down the oxidation process by restricting airflow to my figure collection through my Dust Shield +1. Like a blink of an eye really, one whole year has gone by and I have finally achieved one of the major milestone of any bloggers – hitting the first anniversary!  I must thank you for all of your support, visits, clicks, comments and encouragement!  Looking back when I first started blogging, my original goal was to introduce myself to the worldwide of Otaku that I – Wolfheinich exists here!  I think I have mentioned in the past, I was very much like a closet otaku, I have little real life friends that share my interest, I have no way to share my joy of unpacking my new figures or do I have anyone to converse with how cute this 2D girl is or what not.  What I desire most, is to seek out to like minded otaku who can share my interest, making new friends.

Stumbling onto Dannychoo.com was a major turning point for me, I never knew there is an online community like that before!  After spending a few days on Danny’s site, I decided I too want to become a blogger so I can really introduce myself to the community.  After one whole year, I am confident to say that I have achieved way more than what I had in mind.  I have made a bunch of new friends, gotten into Dollfie Dream (which is like the greatest thing since sliced bread), and even traveled to Japan to see Odaiba Gundam, Kamen Rider Decade and Evangelion 2.0 movie with fellow Dannychoo member Fumoffu.

Let’s take a quick look at the transformation that Wolfheinrich’s World has gone thru in the past year!  I really had no idea what to blog about at the beginning, so I started off with a my room post soon after I began! View Full Article »

I finally did it, one of the most demanding experiments in qualifying Windows Home Server is to actually put the Home Computer Restore to use and completely restore a damaged partition table across my home network.  I didn’t plan on actually having to do this but I was playing around with the MBR on my main xp machines and in the process… damaged the partition table.  So, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to actually put the Windows Home Server on the spotlight and see if it can actually do what it says it can do.

It seems I haven’t been posting much lately, part of the reason has to do with the fact that my room is kind of in a disarray right now because I have been in the process of building my first multimedia file server.  Why do I need a file server?  Good question, with the ever increasing storage requirement for a modern day Otaku, may it be MP3 files, DVD images, etc, and the need to keep my data safe from potential hard drive crashes, I need to have a dedicated storage solution capable of storing and retrieving multiple terabytes of data with some level of redundancy in mind.

php8ALJO9

My first home server, which I named him Mazinger Z

Over the years, I have gone through difference phases of backing up my valuable data.  I have tried burning CD-R when they were first introduced, I have gone the DVD writable routes for a short time (that didn’t last very long because I soon find it very difficult to organize my data) , at the end of the day, removable media is just not my kind of storage system; and on top of all that, consumer grade writable optical disc is just don’t seem reliable enough for me to consider it as a viable backup solution (and I am too lazy to search through stacks of DVD to find what I want :P ).

Tonight I would like to interrupt your regular programming with another special edition of Otaku Project, this time we going to make a DIY Dollfie Dream saddle stand.  Why do I want to make my own Dollfie Dream stand when I can just buy one off the shelf?  For one, good quality doll stand cost a bomb!  For the budget conscious dollfie papa or mama, it’s a huge burden.  Secondly, the good stand is always out of stock!  So even if you want to buy one, it’s easier said than done!

For far too long, the bended type C saddle stand that I wanted is constantly out of stock!

And for far too many times, poor Nanoha has fallen on her face.

Exactly a month ago on the Memorial Day weekend, I started that Ikea Detolf Dioder Project in which I have finally managed to install the much needed lighting system to my Ikea Detolf, however, I left a vital part of the project unfinished on that day – to manage the exit wiring harness.

I really didn’t know what to do at that time, first each of the Dioder has the exact length power cable toward the transformer, meaning by the time the I finish routing the cables inside the Detolf, the exit wire length would be different for each of the cable.  See the power adapter hanging in the middle of the air?  Just bloody awful looking >.>;
