In the last couple of days, I have seen blogging friend Blowfish to first reviewed his Queen’s Blade Reina Battle Book (NSFW) and Tier, not willing to let Blowfish to have all the glory of having more tentacles in his website than his own, pulled out his Mahou Shoujo Ai Illustrations (NSFW).  Now, while I have never been really vocal about my love and enjoyment of tentacles eroge, but it’s time for me to step up to my plate and show off my collection of tentacle related artbook!  To prove that I am no less of a tentacles fan than Blowfish and Tier!  Besides Mahou Shoujo Ai, which is right up there in the top tier of Tentacles Eroges, but there is another series of games that are also very famous for their SLG and tentacles actions, and that is the Mahou Senshi series 魔法戦士 by Triangle Soft, which I have previously discussed about in my 魔動装兵クラインハーゼ Kleinhasa post.  Here I present to you the artbook that I acquired for Kourin Tenshi En Ciel Rena & Mahou Senshi Sweet Knight 2.

Be warned, expect explicit scenes and tentacles action.  In case you can’t read the pink kanji, it means tentacles action!  So think before you decided to read any further.  It is highly recommended for fellow tentacle fans however.

So let’s get started, this artbook cover two games, the first one is Kourin Tenshi En Ciel Rena (the pink hair gal), one of the very few eroge games that are written in the heroine’s point of view, and it brought an interesting twist to the table; since the majority of the eroge games out there are written in the male perspective.  In another word, in En Ciel Rena, you are on the receiving end of the tentacles… En Ciel Rena was originally going to be a separate storyline that is different from the Mahou Senshi series, but Triangle later decided to merge the storyline together thus allowing Rena to make guest appearances in other games.

Overall, En Ciel Rena was a fun game to play and I did enjoy the game written in the heroine’s perspective.

And the second game, which is Mahou Senshi Sweet Knight 2 ~Mezger rise in Revolt~ coming from a long line of Mahou Senshi Game that started from 2002.  It would take forever for me to talk about the baseline of the story, basically you play the role of the bad guy and try to use your tentacle monsters to turn the Mahou Senshi into your slaves?  And that’s basically it!  So instead of me going through all the details right now, let’s just cut it short and say the main heroine Sweet Lip (the brown hair gal) is one of my favorite Mahou Senshi?   There was a two episodes of Sweet Knight OVA out there a few years back, but I don’t think they they ever finished the story, what a pity…..

One of the main reason why I have taken a strong liking into Sweet Lip probably has to do with the fact that she was playing as my loyal aside (or I turned her into my slave early on in the game) in one of the later games, Sacred Ground, which is a area conquering strategy simulation (which is one of my favorite type of games, pretty much like Sengoku Rance but in a much less complex scale).

Screen shot of Sacred Ground, the part I like about Sacred Ground is that I got to capture the heroines from previous games.. use the tentacles to make them submit to me XD then use them in battle to conquer more area!

Ok back to the artbook, obviously, some character introduction so let’s get it out of the way~

And of course, the character introduction could not be completed with the tentacle monsters….

The thing about Triangle soft games, is that they put a lot of emphasis in the heroine’s state of mind…

Depending the outcome of the battle the night before, the dialogue from the heroines will change, which is something not every game publishers try to do, which is good from my point of view.

Overall, I enjoyed this artbook even though I have played through both games and have seen all the CGs, it’s a very nice collection item as it is the only artbook so far from the Mahou Senshi universe.
