1/4 Uesugi Kenshin E2046 Gathering version
by Wolfheinrich on Nov.08, 2009, under Otaku Home screen, Other Figures, Photo Shoot & Review
A few days ago, blogsphere comrade Tier celebrated his acquisition of the rare and limited edition of pre-painted version of the 1/4 Uesugi Kenshin from Volks A-brand. I promised him to take a few pictures of my own 1/4 Gathering version for him to compare the finishing quality between the two. That reminded me, I never quite taken pictures of my 1/4 army, might as well take this chance to snap a few pics eh?
For those of you who are not familiar just who this Uesugi Kenshin is, please take a look at one of my earlier post for the 1/5 Uesugi Kenshin Freeing version. In 2007, in a survey done by Tech Gian, Kenshin narrowly defeated Saber from Fate Stay Night to become the most popular eroge game heroine of the year. Enough talking, let’s dig in~
As usual, click on pictures to show full scale image~
I picked up this Kenshin a few years ago, obviously I haven’t gotten in Dollfie Dream then. I have always treasured this Kenshin as the most elegant painted figure I have ever owned, like a goddess descended from heaven.
Just beautiful~ isn’t she. I am waiting for the day when Volks announce Dollfie Dream Kenshin~
As an added bonus, I would throw in a group photo of the 1/4 Yamamoto Isuroku, which I acquired as a sister kit with Kenshin.
Here is a shot with Kenshin’s helmet on~

Indeed, this particular Kenshin figure really shows her feminine side, very graceful, sexy without being sexual. Hehe, I acquired Kenshin along with Yamaoto Isuroku as sisters kits; I called them the twin towers of goddess before I got into Dollfie Dream.

In all honesty, I think I prefer Yamamoto Isuroku over Kenshin.
Though then again, Kenshin’s got a cool hat.

I am not surprised at your response at all, Yamamoto does carry a more manly expression in this particular figure. But Kenshin is still my favorite between the two~

they are both gorgeous! very sexy, great paint job and like the pattern on the sheath. im not familiar with her character… man, i wish i had the time to play some eroge games lol
a DD Kenshin would be amazing, would you ever try making a custom DD?
November 8th, 2009 on 8:53 pm
Most of the girls I ever wanted have already received DD treatment, Kenshin would be the missing one so far, and possibly Saber Lily too. Custom DD would probably be more effort than I can manage right now since I can’t do the face up myself.

Man is she beautiful. I’ve had Kenshin on my E2046 wishlist for most of the year; I got some friends to make E2046 accounts to add her to their wishlists too.
It looks like some of the differences between the E2046 and Volks versions are the eyes (Volks version is looking to the side and E2046 version is looking straight), the scabbard (E2046 version has a flower pattern but the Volks version does not), and the paint (Volks version has a darker paint scheme).
Kenshin is a worthy winner for the Miss Eroge contest. I like Saber, but Kenshin is much more interesting, I think. Hmm, I never noticed that Rider finished 13th. It’s too bad Rider doesn’t get more love in the form of hobby goods.

She is still the most elegant painted figure I have in my collection to-date. Considering I have a ton of stuff, that’s a tall order
Yeah Gathering’s coloring scheme is lighter, which suits my taste better.
I can’t wait for the day when they announce DD Kenshin, since 4 out of the top 5 in the survey have already seen DD treatment. Which in itself make this list incredibly legitimate in terms of popularity.

Gorgeous figures, but I shudder at the prices lol.

Well, despite the relative high price tag, I still think this is worth the money I paid for.

Ah this actually reminds me of a chat i had with melonpan a few days ago and you might just be the right person to ask.I do know that youve been a collector for quite some years now and Id like to know how youre PVC figures fared over the last ten years.Im not talking in way of sculpt or finishing since that obviously improved over the years but in terms of durability.
Melonpan told me that hes stopped buying PVC Figures and sticks to Resinkits now since Resin doesnt age compared to PVC.He told me that all his PVC figures that are about 3-4 years old are now pretty brittle, discoloured and downright ugly.
I do know that PVC “ages” and may not be as pretty as day one but thats actually quite a horror story he told me there. We all do of course know Melonpan and his shenanigans and maybe they are in such a bad shape because he didnt treat them properly.
I do know that youre a careful collector and Id like to hear your opinion on how well PVC ages.Depending on your answer I might think about taking a backseat in the PVC market and sticking more to Gathering products. The price gap between PVC and Gathering Kits is pretty much nonexistent these days anyways…
Oh and Nice Gathering kit! Great quality as usual

It’s a difficult question to answer, and on top of that, most of my PVC figures are not much older than 3-4 years old. I do have some older PVC figures which I might be able to take some photos, a sakura shinguji figure, might even be able to find a vacuum sealed one, probably the oldest one I have. And probably a few Pia Carrot 3 figures too. I have a few duplicates still in their boxes that I might be able to do some comparison shots. Hopefully I can get to it sometime this week.
Not all PVC figures age that poorly, though, admittedly, some parts of my collections have aged pretty badly, particularly those without painted faces. I have noticed some figures with unpainted faces have turned yellowish, they have become more apparent after I acquired the new lights. Now, it is possible that newer PVC figures might have other ingredients that might allow them to age more gracefully, something we might not know until a few years later.
May be I should turn this discussion into a blog post~

Really a great figure. She would be standing out in my collection I guess.
Unlike many other mostly cloth less figures she looks beautiful and, well, yah… erotic. (^^;)
+ I would be very interested into a blog post about “figure aging” too.

She is really gorgeous!

No doubt she is one of my most treasured collections.

It’s my first time on your website. I was looking for informations on
Uesugi figure.
E2046 show once again that they’re specialized on gathering. Their
work is remarkable even if it’s not always legal.
Magnificent photos!

Greetings Lylibellule, I do hope you find your time here enjoyable~
Yes, the Gathering series is indeed of very high quality, as far as the legitimacy of their product, it’s more of a gray area than anything else.

Really nice figure indeed.
I love how her pose is sexy, but doesn’t have the same (overused) pose of the newer figures.
November 28th, 2009 on 2:12 am
Overuse pose on newer figure? Care to elaborate a bit?
